Below is the itinerary of our September 2023 Via Francigena
The Via Francigena is a historic pilgrimage route from Canterbury, England, through France and Switzerland, to Rome, Italy. It was an important medieval path for pilgrims, military, and trade, and can be walked or cycled today, covering approximately 1,056 miles. The route's difficulty varies depending on the chosen path, and modern infrastructure is less developed than on other pilgrimage routes like the Camino de Santiago
The route we walked was between Lucca and Siena through the Tuscan countryside in 6 days, covering about 80 miles.
